An update on a service we offer here at Park Bench: we do kinesiotape for people either trying to improve their athletic performance or recover from a soft tissue or joint injury.
The process is simple. First, the tape is applied in a matter of minutes, and the tape will stay put on the skin for a number of days (or a week plus) even with showering. The way kinesiotape works is by stimulating inhibited muscles and simultaneously relaxing tense and hypertonic muscles. This puts the muscles back into functional balance and, quite often, leads to a decrease in pain and an improvement in function…and a return to play. The proper application of the tape is very important – you want to making changes in the balance of muscle tone in the right direction, rather than ramping up the activity in an already overactive muscle.
